Join 1892 this year, belong for generations. You may transfer your membership to a son or a daughter if you join in 2025. Your spouse will always enjoy full privileges.

It was 1892 “when the football team at the University of Georgia was formed,” “the first of its kind in the Deep South.” And to celebrate this tradition that continues today, old friends founded 1892.

The success of our dinner club—which opens September 2026, at 110 E. Clayton St., Athens, Georgia 30601—will hinge upon the people. Thus, our 300 members will be 1892’s best assets. And nearly 150 members have already joined.

Beyond the people, these features will pull you to visit the club, which will serve dinner daily and lunch Monday to Friday:

  1. Valet parking. (No, not on gamedays.)

  2. No dues, with a food and beverage minimum instead.

  3. Timeless design and seasonal menus—whether for 1892 or Oak Steakhouse Athens, which shares an owner, a manager, and a kitchen with the club.

  4. Events in Athens for you, your spouse, and your guests.

There are two types of members, “Gown Members” and “Town Members.” Gown Members will have priority over Town Members on peak days—when members have guaranteed reservations for brunch, dinner, and drinks because Oak is closed to the public—including, without limitation, the following:

  • The Friday before, and the Saturday of, home football games.

  • Dinner before home basketball games.

  • Graduation weekends.

Children? Guests? You may host accompanied children and guests at 1892. In other words, you, or your spouse, must be on property. But even when off property, you may reserve tables at Oak for children and guests. And their spend counts toward your food and beverage minimum.
